Apple iOS 16 Update today: Apple’s iOS 16 and watch OS 9 has rolled out for all eligible devices. The iOS 16 update was first rolled out to those on the public beta or developer beta version of the software. The update is around 3 GB in size for iPhone users. For watchOS 9, Apple is supporting Watch Series 4 and above.
The latest version of iOS will feature a completely reimagined Lock Screen that will come with many new personalisation features including widgets. iOS 16 will also feature new updates to iMessage and the Apple Maps app. watchOS 9 will add new fitness tracking features like more metrics for elements like heart rate and elevation data, among other features.

The following iPhones will support iOS 16: iPhone 14 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 12 series and iPhone 11 series and iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The other iPhones supported are iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone SE Gen 2 and iPhone SE Gen 3.

WatchOS 9: The biggest change
Apple's WatchOS 9 is also available for users. The biggest change will be for Workouts where users will see more information including Activity ring information, heart rate zones, etc while exercising. Apple iOS 16: Here's how to customise the lockscreen
With iOS 16, you can bid goodbye to the boring old lockscreen. Users can now go toSettings> Wallpaper > and then tap on Add new wallpaper to change the lockscreen.
Apple will now show a lot more options for wallpaper and the lock screen. Apple will show also options to customise this further. You can tap and change the font or colour for the time widget, even for the date. Read more about iOS 16 tips here.

Apple iOS 16 update: This should be visible on most eligible devices now
Apple users should now start seeing the iOS 16 update on their iPhones. Just go to Settings> General> Software update and it should reflect. In our case we saw an update for iOS 15.7 first, and then below that an option to upgrade to iOS 16.

Apple iOS 16: Brings new passkey feature
Apple's iOS 16 update is adding a new passkey feature. Apple says this is part of the browsing experience in Safari and says these cannot be "phished or leaked" and are designed to replace passwords. Passkeys use Touch ID or Face ID for biometric verification, and iCloud Keychain to sync across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV with end-to-end encryption. These have been created as a joint effort in collaboration with the FIDO Alliance, Google, and Microsoft, and the passkeys will work across apps and the web. Users will be able to sign in to websites or an app on non-Apple devices using just their iPhone with this feature.

Apple iOS 16: It is now time
The iOS 16 update should begin appearing on most iPhones. However, we are yet to see the update on an older iPhone 12 Pro Max for now. This phone was not on the public beta. Apple iOS 16: The Messages app will get new sub-categories
Apple is adding more sub-categories to the Messages app with iOS 16. The Messages filter extension will now classify business messages into sub-categories such as finance, orders, reminders, coupons and so on and so forth. This should sort out the Messages app a bit more for iPhone users across the world and bring some much needed order.

In order to check for the update, just go to the Settings app on your iPhone, followed by General and tap on Software update. The update should reflect once roll out begins at 10.30 pm IST. Apple's new iOS 16 iPhone update will let you edit and unsend text messages for the first time. That means you will be able to go back and correct a typo or delete a message if you sent it to the wrong person. Users will have a 15-minute window to unsend texts. Apple's iOS 16 update could also let users bypass Captcha on websites as we had noted earlier. The feature is part of Settings under Apple ID> Password & Security > Automatic Verification and once activated, Apple's iCloud verify's the user's device and Apple ID account and removes the need for any Captcha prompts on other apps or websites.

Apple iOS 16: Redesigned Lockscreen
The redesigned Lockscreen is the major design update on iOS 16. You can customise it by just long-pressing the lockscreen and a Customise option will show up.
